This secret was revealed to me by locals when we lived in the Czech Republic. Although there aren’t many tourists in Ovocný Světozor, Czechs are carefully hiding this cozy café from foreigners.

Ovocný Světozor is a beloved chain of dessert cafes in Prague, famous for its delicious ice cream and variety of sweet treats. The name “Ovocný” translates to “fruity,” reflecting the cafe’s origins in fruit-based desserts, while “Světozor” is associated with one of its most famous locations in the Světozor Passage near Wenceslas Square.

The assortment includes not only fruit ice cream but also snacks and sandwiches for light meals. There’s a huge variety of desserts and cakes as well. Prices average 100-150 CZK per piece. I think, this is quite affordable cost. Across the street at McDonald’s, the cost of a cheesecake is even higher. And usually in tourist places, it’s unlikely you’ll find cheaper prices in good patisseries.

So-called “liquid” ice cream began to be produced in Czechoslovakia back in the 1970s. Today, it’s a whole network of cafes under the name Ovocný Světozor throughout the city, always with queues of locals. Czechs love to relax here with families and friends.
We stood in front of this shopwindow for at least 10 minutes choosing sweets. And children argued for a long time before we finally placed our order. In the end I went home with my trophy, the most tender cake. Of course, I had to share it with my family =)
Alex and Mike got ice cream for dessert. Half a kilo of strawberry ice cream and a kilo of chocolate!! We all ate it for several days, and it’s a delight, so delicious, with natural berries and chocolate.
