Key Points About the Dubai Tram: Route Map, Fares and Penalties

The Dubai tram is a very modern and futuristic public transport. There is only one tram line in the city at the moment. However, it has eleven stations, and runs through the popular area of Dubai Marina. For this reason, many tourists prefer take a tram to get from Dubai Marina to Palm Jumeirah and back.

The orange line on this map is the tram route in Dubai. As you can see, there are two interchange stations with Dubai metro and one interchange station with Dubai monorail.

I want to describe the main stations of Dubai tram:

  • #01 «Jumeirah Beach Residence 1» and #02 «Jumeirah Beach Residence 2». From these stations you can walk to JBR beach (Dubai Marina beach) and Ain Dubai (world’s highest observation wheel).
  • #03 «Jumeirah Lakes Towers». It’s the interchange station with metro station «Jumeirah Lakes Towers».
  • #04 «Dubai Marina Mall». Next to this station is the Marina promenade with amazing views of yachts and abras (local boats), there is also a 7 km waterfront walkway through cafes and restaurants near.
  • #05 «Dubai Marina». It’s the interchange station with metro station “Damac properties”.
  • #06 «Marina Towers», #07 «Mina Seyahi», and #08 «Dubai Media City». These stations are located among dozens of hotels, it’s the perfect area to stay in Dubai.
  • #09 «Palm Jumeriah». It’s the gateway to Palm Jumeirah island, and the interchange with the Dubai Monorail station.
  • #11 «Al Sufouh». From this station is the closest way to Al Sufouh beach (another name is Secret Beach).

Obviously, the Dubai tram is a convenient transportation for tourists who have booked a hotel in the neighborhood. Usually the subway is the most popular way to get to different parts of Dubai.

🎫 Timing and ticket fare

The Dubai tram opens from 6 AM to 1 AM (next day) from Monday to Saturday, and from 9 AM to 1 AM on Sunday.

The tram line operates under a single transport zone, and therefore the fare is minimal, depending on NOL card you have:

  • with Red card the fare is 4 AED.
  • with Silver card – the fare is 3 AED.
  • with Gold card – the fare is 6 AED.

The fare is paid at the stops, not inside the tram. You have to use a Nol card before and after the journey.

The Dubai tram has a premium Gold cabin for Gold cards holders. And the Silver card gives the cheapest cost of the trip.

You can take one small suitcase and one large suitcase on board. But you must put your baggage in the dedicated luggage area, which is available in each cabin.

Dubai tram timing days and hours

The Dubai streetcar is an automatic train without a tram-driver. Passengers can stand at the beginning of the cabin and watch the amazing sights through the windshield. The feeling is incredible!

Tram Dubai in JBR area photo

Honestly, we rarely travel by tram in Dubai. The streetcar route is quite short, so there is no point in using it often.

Anyway, if you need to go from JBR area to Palm Jumeirah gateway, it is wise decision to take a tram to get there and back.
